Two arrested for ‘providing medical services to bandits’ in Kaduna

Two persons suspected to be providing medical services to bandits have been arrested in Buruku, Chikun LGA of Kaduna state.

Samuel Aruwan, commissioner for internal security and home affairs, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Monday.

He also added that three people were killed by bandits in separate attacks on communities in Kaduna state.

Giving details of the attacks, Aruwan said bandits invaded Rafin Roro village in Kajuru LGA, where they killed one person, adding that eleven rounds of AK-47 ammunition were found at the location by security operatives.

In a similar attack, a resident was reportedly killed at a settlement near Maraban Jos, in Igabi LGA of Kaduna.

The bandits were also said to have attacked and killed one person at the outskirts of Garu village, Igabi LGA, after they rustled an unspecified number of cows.

The commissioner said security operatives engaged the bandits and one of the bandits was found roaming about in the bush, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

He added that security agents have been dispatched to the affected areas to locate the gunmen.

In the statement, Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna, expressed sadness over the killing of the residents and condoled with their family members.

“The governor commended the Kaduna State Police Command for the arrests in Chikun LGA, and urged that thorough investigations be pursued to conclusion,” Aruwan added.
