A commercial motorcyclist and his passenger have been reported dead after they collided with a truck at the Bible College area on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.

NAN reports that Ahmed Umar, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) sector commander in Ogun, confirmed the incident on Wednesday, in Ota.

Umar said the accident, which happened at about 9:10 am, involved four people, a vehicle, and a Bajaj motorcycle.

He said the motorcycle drove against traffic and collided with a Daf truck, leading to the death of the rider and the passenger, while two others were unhurt.

“The corpses of the dead had been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Ifo,” he said.

He blamed the accident on excessive speeding and route violation, adding that motorists and okada riders should desist from excessive speeding to avoid unnecessary loss of life.

He also cautioned them to refrain from driving in violation of the traffic to prevent mishaps on the highway.
