Two people were reportedly killed in an attack by gunmen in Gora village, Zangon Kataf local government area of Kaduna state.
Two others were also said to have sustained injuries in the attack which occurred at about 7pm on Friday.
Sources in the village said the attack took place at the community market when the gunmen who arrived on motorcycles started shooting indiscriminately.
“The gunmen came on motorcycles at about 7pm and started shooting indiscriminately into the market. There was pandemonium as people started running for their dear lives,” the source said.

“Two women were killed on the spot and three men sustained serious injuries from gunshots.”
Confirming the incident, Elias Manza, chairman of the local government, said the attackers opened fire on some youth playing around the village market square on Friday evening.
“The attackers came on motorcycles and opened fire on the youth playing, killing two females while two males sustained injuries,” he said.

Mamza, said those injured were receiving treatment at in the hospital, adding that normalcy had been restored in the area.
He said security operatives had been drafted to the community and advised the people to remain calm.
Mamza warned people against any form of a reprisal attack, adding that efforts were being made to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
Kaduna is one of the states battling insecurity in the country. Two days ago, a first-class monarch in Yobe was attacked in the state.

Six people, including four aides of the king, were killed in the attack while many sustained injuries.
The king said he fled into the bush and spent two hours trekking inside the forest.
