The Jigawa police command says two people were killed and several others injured in a communal clash between Hausa and Fulani groups in Agufa village, Miga LGA of the state.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, quoted the police as saying that the clash started as a dispute over “acts of mischief attributed to some Fulani youths”.

Makama said the conflict, which occurred on Monday at about 1:45 pm, was initially reported to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), before the situation escalated into violence.

The publication noted that the groups exchanged bows and arrows during the fight, before security operatives intervened to restore order.
