Hundreds of shots were said to have been fired at the open-air music festival which held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel on the city’s strip.

Several people present took to their heels while some ducked for cover to shield themselves from the bullets.

Reuters had earlier quoted a local hospital spokesman as saying fourteen of the persons being treated for injuries were in a critical condition.

According to BBC, the police had said a suspected gunman “was down” but that there may be another incident on the Las Vegas strip.

During the post-attack press conference, Lombardo said police were also searching for Mari Lou Danley, identified as an Asian woman, who was with the suspect at the time of the attack.

He said several off-duty police officers had been attending the country music festival and that at least two had been killed in the incident.

He said the reports about multiple shootings cannot be confirmed.
