Two men nabbed for ‘raping’ 15-year-old girl at film village in Oyo

The Oyo state police command has remanded two suspects, identified as Supo Kosemani and Bankole Ayoola, over the alleged rape and attempted murder of a 15-year-old girl.

The incident was said to have occurred on March 10 at the Ibrahim Chatta Film Village in the Fashola area of Oyo town.

Both suspects were said to be part of the film crew at the film village.

Olorunpoto Rahaman, lawmaker representing Oyo East/ Oyo West in the state house of assembly, confirmed the incident to TheCable.

On March 8, Ayoola visited the victim’s house and informed her grandmother that she needed to go to a film location in Oyo town for a movie role.

He had previously visited the victim’s school in Ogbomoso for a drama event and invited those interested in acting to sign up.

The victim, an SS2 student, was among those who indicated interest.

Ayoola was said to have threatened the victim and hanged her under the guise of rehearsing a suicide scene before arriving at the movie scene, where he began to make sexual advances at her.

Scared for her safety, she confided in Kosemani, who promised to protect her.

The victim remained with Kosemani till March 10, when he reportedly locked her in a room and abused her.

She was examined by the medical personnel on-site at the film village, after which she was taken to Oyo State General Hospital for further medical checkups and treatment.

The suspects were subsequently arrested and remanded at the police headquarters in Iyaganku.

They will be arraigned in court on March 18.

From engaging the Amotekun and Police to effect arrests to providing basic logistics and ensuring the Police conduct necessary medical tests before transferring the case to the State CID. I commend the services of @⁨Abosede Adeyi⁩, the Team Lead @ SafeHaven Initiative for their selfless efforts. I also commend the efforts of Mr. Sunday Olaniyi, an affiliate of the Ibrahim Chatta film Village where the incident occurred for his efforts towards ensuring the arrests of the suspects and provision of immediate relief for the victim,” Rahaman said in a statement.

“The case will be escalated to the Office of Her Excellency, the wife of the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Mrs. Taminomini Olufunke Makinde towards accessing support in whatever form for the victim.”

The case has also been reported to the state ministry of women affairs to provide the victim with the necessary support.
