The United Bank of Africa (UBA) says it donated N500 million to the Lagos state security trust fund (LSSTF) to secure the environment for individuals and businesses.
In a statement on Monday, the bank said Tony Elumelu, its chairman, made the donation at the state house in Marina, Lagos.
Elumelu said the donation reflects UBA’s commitment to building safer communities and improving the quality of life for all.
“At UBA, we understand that security is critical for economic growth and societal well-being,” Elumelu said.

“We are proud to partner with the Lagos State Government to achieve this shared vision of a secure environment conducive to investment and development.”
Receiving the N500c million cheque, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos, commended the UBA Group and UBA Foundation for their “significant” contribution to the state’s security trust fund.
Sanwo-Olu also applauded Elumelu for his commitment to impactful projects that advance the state’s progress.

“This donation will strengthen our efforts to enhance security and protect our citizens. Together we are building a safer Lagos for all,” the governor said.
Elumelu said the partnership with Lagos reinforces the bank’s belief in collaborative efforts as the key to addressing security challenges and creating environments where individuals and businesses can thrive.
“We believe that a secure Lagos State is integral to a secure Nigeria. UBA Foundation will continue to support transformative initiatives that uplift lives and drive development,” the chairman said.
According to the statement, the UBA Foundation has contributed to enhancing education, the environment, and economic empowerment, as well as special projects such as critical donations across Africa.
