Uba Sani, the governor of Kaduna state.
Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna state, has approved the release of N3.8 billion to the state’s pension bureau for the immediate payment of gratuities, death benefits, and accrued rights under the contributory pension scheme.
In a statement on Monday, Ibraheem Musa, Sani’s chief press secretary (CPS), said the approval was granted on compassionate grounds following pleas from pensioners and families of deceased civil servants.
He said the pensioners had expressed concerns about the negative impact of the ongoing verification exercise on their living conditions.
Musa reiterated that the verification exercise is intended to remove “ghost” pensioners from the payroll to prevent the wastage of the state’s limited resources.
