Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, has mourned the passing of Ghali Na’Abba, a former speaker of the house of representatives.
Born on September 27, 1958, in Tudun Wada, Kano, Na’Abba was the 4th speaker of Nigeria’s green chamber.
He died at the National Hospital in Abuja around 3 am on Wednesday.
In a post on his official X handle, Sani said Na’Abba worked “assiduously to advance the frontiers of constitutionalism, fundamental rights and freedoms, and democracy”.

The Kaduna governor said after leaving office, the deceased took up the role of public commentator who preached against the “wrong steps of public officials”.
In a similar post, Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano, also commiserated with the Na’Abba family.
Describing the deceased as an advocate for collective order, Kwankwaso said Na’Abba stood tall on his ideals.

“May the Almighty Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus. I extend my condolences to his family, and the Government and good people of Kano state,” Kwankwaso wrote on X.
In a tribute signed by Edwin Olofu, Abdullahi Ganduje, chair of the All Progressives Congress (APC), described Na’Abba as a thoroughbred politician and legislator who meant well for the country.
“His rich experiences and doggedness even when faced with the risk of impeachment were contributory to whatever achievements we recorded at the National Assembly today,” Ganduje said.
“He diligently served Nigeria. His wit, intellect, diligence and warm personality were legendary.”
