Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, says his administration is committed to tackling malnutrition, infant and maternal mortality, and cases of out-of-school children in the state.

Sani said this while addressing a delegation from the United Nations International Children Fund (UNICEF) at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House on Monday.

The governor thanked the delegation for their condolences on the drone mishap at Tudun Biri community in Igabi LGA of the state that led to the deaths of many.

The governor also lauded UNICEF for their numerous proactive interventions especially in the areas of maternal and child mortality rates, infectious diseases, and immunisation.

He said the state government will continue to partner with UNICEF to overcome all identified challenges and save lives of the vulnerable especially in rural communities.

“Kaduna state under my leadership recognizes primary healthcare as key because accessible healthcare is very important,” Sani said.

“Recently while deliberating on the budget, we were able to commit a lot of money into the provision of healthcare in our state as only a healthy society can achieve sustainable development.

“We have our data and statistics. If we do not eradicate poverty or reduce the level of poverty in our rural areas, we can never truly address the issue of out-of-school children because here in Kaduna, primary and secondary school education is free.”
