Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna state, has ordered an investigation into an alleged diversion of funds by an official of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Authority (KASTLEA).
In a viral video, the KASTLEA official was captured allegedly diverting money meant for the state government from fining a motorist in the Saminaka area of the state through a Point of Sale Machine (POS).
In the video, the voice of an unnamed motorist who spoke in Hausa is heard talking about how officials of KASTLEA stopped his vehicle and demanded that he pay a fine into a private account.
However, the motorist said he would let the Kaduna state government know where its revenue is going through the video.

In a statement issued on Thursday by Muhammad Shehu, media aide to the governor, concerning the incident, Sani his administration has a zero-tolerance for corrupt practices in the ministries, departments and agencies (MDAS) of the state.
“Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani has ordered a thorough investigation into the alleged misconduct by an official of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Authority (KASTLEA) which was captured in a video that has now gone viral,” the statement reads.
“The said official was seen on video diverting money meant for government coffers using Point of Sale (POS) machine.

“The Kaduna State Government reiterates its zero-tolerance for corrupt practices in its Ministries, Departments, Agencies and other state-owned institutions.
“The administration remains committed to protecting its citizens against fraudulent actions by a few bad eggs.
“Residents are hereby encouraged to report any infractions to the appropriate authorities, as any official found guilty after thorough investigations will face the full wrath of the law.”
