Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, has returned two landed properties previously revoked in the state, to the family of the late Sani Abacha.
Reuben Atabo, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and lawyer to the family of the late head of state, told journalists former governor Nasir el-Rufai revoked the land in 2022.
Atabo said the reinstated lands include a property located at No. 9 Abakpa GRA, measuring 2,284 square meters, covered by Kaduna state certificate of occupancy No. 30575, and another at No. 1 Degel Road, Ungwan Rimi GRA, measuring 3,705 square meters, with certificate of occupancy No. 11458.
According to The Nation, Atabo said the former governor had placed a newspaper advert on April 28, 2022, that he had revoked titles to some plots of land, which included those owned by Abacha, for various contraventions of terms and conditions of right of occupancy.

The lawyer said he approached the high court of justice of Kaduna in suits KDH/KAD/465/2021 and KDH/KAD/509/2022, respectively, for a claim of embarrassment to the Abacha family name in the publication, among other claims.
He said the incumbent governors had, in two letters dated December 10, 2024, through Mustapha Haruna, deed registrar on behalf of the director-general, Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS), reinstated the titles of the lands.
Atabo said that according to the letters, the reinstatement was subject to the strict condition of settling all outstanding fees and charges.
