Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, has constituted a committee for proper supervision of the intervention funds donated to victims of military airstrikes in the state.
In a statement of Sunday, Sani said the committee is set up to ensure “accountability and fairness” in the disbursement process of the intervention funds.
On December 3, many residents of Tudun Biri village in Igabi LGA of Kaduna were hit by a bomb “mistakenly” dropped by a military drone.
Since the incident, many stakeholders have visited the community while pledges have been made to support victims and their families with relief.

The governor said the committee would design a database of the victims and next of kin to ensure the funds reach the real beneficiaries.
He said the committee would take inventory of all the donations made by donors, develop a framework for funds disbursement and the funds and ensure prompt allocation to beneficiaries.
Sani added that the committee would also collaborate with federal and state agencies for effective project implementation and submit monthly reports of their activities.

“The federal government, national assembly, Nigeria Governors Forum, corporate organizations, and well-meaning Nigerians have made donations and announced intervention programmes aimed at bringing succour to the distressed community, rebuilding the community, and giving the people renewed hope and sense of security,” the statement reads.
“As a responsive, responsible and accountable government, we must take keen interest in how donations and intervention programmes for the Tudun Biri community are disbursed and executed. We want to ensure that the donations go to the actual beneficiaries.
“We want to monitor the implementation of the projects to ensure their speedy and effective implementation.
“This committee has therefore been constituted for the purpose of accountability, inclusivity and transparency.
