Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, says his administration will partner with anti-graft agencies to fight corruption in the state’s judiciary and civil service.
Sani spoke on Tuesday at the swearing-in of Mohammed Danjuma as the new Grand Khadi of the state.
The governor thanked the National Judicial Council (NJC) for recommending a highly experienced legal practitioner and distinguished scholar of Islamic law for appointment as the Grand Khadi.
“I am confident that the new Grand Khadi Mohammed Aminu will position the Sharia Court of Appeal and make it a true temple of justice for the citizens of Kaduna State,” Sani said.

“Our administration is committed to ensuring the rule of law and independence of the judiciary in Kaduna state.”
He promised to give the judiciary the needed support to perform optimally and ensure access to justice for citizens.
The governor said the welfare and security of the people are the primary purposes of government, noting that “our actions must complement or reinforce each other”.

“To serve our people better and advance social justice, there must be synergy between the executive and the judiciary,” he said.
“If we work at cross purposes, we will undermine the system and lose the trust and confidence of the people.”
The governor urged the Grand Khadi to work “assiduously to strengthen the discipline of the staff of the Sharia court of appeal and in particular those of the lower courts who are the closest judges to the masses.”
“There had been a lot of complaints from the grassroots about the untoward activities of the lower court judges. This is unacceptable,” Sani added.

“The state government will strengthen its cooperation and partnership with anti corruption agencies to effectively fight corruption in the judiciary and the civil service in general.
“I also urge our new Grand Khadi to discharge his constitutional mandate in accordance with the law and without fear or favour.”
