Jesse Otegbayo, chief medical director, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo state, has tested negative for COVID-19.
This development is coming five days after the CMD initially tested positive for the disease.
He tested positive alongside Oluwabunmi Olapade-Olaopa and Obafunke Denloye, provost and deputy provost of the hospital’s college of medicine.
Otegbayo, a professor of medicine, said he took the test on Friday after one of the hospital’s board members tested positive for the disease.

After his result came out positive, the professor went into self-isolation and asked those who had contact with him to take the test.
In a statement on Thursday, Toye Akinrinlola, UCH public relations officer, broke the news of Otegbayo’s change of status on the infection.
He said the CMD tested negative after his samples were taken on Tuesday for re-examination.

“I have the pleasure to announce that the repeat test of the UCH CMD, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo has returned negative. He had earlier tested positive to COVID-19 last Friday,” the statement read.
“Otegbayo had on Sunday personally said in a statement that he tested positive for COVID-19 and admonished all those who had contact with him to go on self-quarantine.
“However, his samples were taken again on Tuesday, 31st March, 2020. Today, at about 3.00pm, the result came out negative.”
When TheCable reached the spokesman for update on status of the Olapade-Olaopa and Denloye, he said the results of both medical officers returned negative as well.
