The verbal volleyball that is now the exchanges between Stephen Keshi and Ikechukwu Uche continued on friday with the Villarreal forward denying Keshi’s claim that he recently refused to submit his passport for visa issuance to South Africa for the game in Cape Town in September.
Keshi told reporters on Wednesday that he dropped the Uche from his squad for AFCON qualifiers against Congo and the Bafana Bafana because he refused to cooperate with team officials on securing visa to South Africa.
However, Uche has now used his Twitter handle – @ikeuche9 – to clear the air on the issue.
“Important to clear the air. I never spoke to the Nigeria team secretary about SA visa or demand to have a word with the coach at any time.”

This is not the first time of claims and counter claims between coach and player as Uche once responded to an earlier claim by Keshi that he always wanted to be ‘begged‘ to play, with the player insisting that it was always an ‘honour to play for Nigeria‘.
Despite the altercations with the Big Boss, Uche still wished the team success in their next games.
“We have important games against Sudan. It should be the focus of the players. I wish the team all the best in the Nations Cup qualifiers.”
