UCL: Chukwueze scores for Milan as Man City claim comeback win over Leipzig

Samuel Chukwueze, Super Eagles winger, scored his first goal for AC Milan in the team’s 3-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) group stage match on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old Nigerian opened his goal account for the Rossoneri in the 37th minute with a left-footed curler after slaloming past two defenders at the byline. The goal was an equaliser after Marco Reus’ 10th-minute penalty gave the away side the lead at the San Siro.

English teenager Jamie Bynoe-Gittens pulled Dortmund back ahead shortly after the second half commenced.

Ten minutes later, Karim Adeyemi put the game beyond Milan with a brilliant strike.

At the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City scored thrice in the second half to overcome a two-goal deficit, securing a 3-2 win over RB Leipzig.

Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Julio Alvarez all found the back of the net as the UCL defending champions prolonged their unbeaten run in the competition to 19 matches.

Defensive mistakes saw City, who had already booked their round-of-16 place before this encounter, concede twice as Belgian striker Lois Openda put the visitors ahead with an early goal before doubling on 33 minutes.

A poor City side shed their atrocious first-half performance to produce a masterclass after the interval through Haaland’s 40th goal of the competition, Foden’s leveller and a late strike from Alvarez, three minutes from time, to nick the win.

Elsewhere, Paris Saint-Germain scored a last-minute penalty to avoid defeat at home to Newcastle, sharing the points in a 1-1 draw that keeps the French side in the hunt for a place in the knockout phase.

Barcelona, however, ensured their place in the latter stages of the competition for the first time in three years courtesy of a 2-1 win over FC Porto.
