UCL: Kane scores four in Bayern’s heavy win as Liverpool humble AC Milan

Harry Kane becomes the highest scoring English footballer in the UCL with 33 goals

Liverpool secured a comeback 3-1 win over AC Milan in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) clash at San Siro Stadium on Tuesday night.

Despite not being on the scoresheet, Mohamed Salah inspired the Reds’ comeback against Milan.

Goals from Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk completed the turnaround before Dominik Szoboszlai sealed victory against the Rossoneri.

Super Eagles of Nigeria’s Samuel Chukwueze was an unused substitute for AC Milan, while youngster Victor Eletu was not listed in the home side’s match squad.

Liverpool conceded in the third minute when Christian Pulisic, former Chelsea winger, pounced on a defensive mistake and found the net with a low hard shot.

Arne Slot’s men hung on for dear lives before they turned the tide around, thanks to headers from their towering defenders.

Konate rose highest to convert a free kick delivery for 1-1 before van Dijk repeated the trick from a corner kick delivery for 2-1 lead at the break. Szoboszlai converted Cody Gapko’s pass from eight yards in the 66th minute to ensure Slot wins in his first European match as Liverpool manager.

With the victory, Liverpool became the first team to come from behind to win a Champions League game at the San Siro since 2021, when they set the record.

In other ties of the new-look competition, Harry Kane scored four times — three from the penalty spot — to become the highest-scoring England international in the UCL as Bayern Munich trounced Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 in Germany. His tally of 33 goals sees him overtake Rooney’s 30 goals.

Kylian Mbappe also scored a goal in his first UCL match for Real Madrid, as the reigning champions began defending their title with a 3-1 win over Stuttgart at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
