Liverpool scored an 88th-minute winner to overcome Ajax Amsterdam 2-1 in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) encounter at Anfield on Tuesday night.
Following a 4-1 drubbing at Napoli in their first group game, Mohamed Salah scored the opener for Liverpool while Joel Matip’s late goal proved enough for Jurgen Klopp’s men to win the difficult encounter.
Salah gave Liverpool the lead 17 minutes into the encounter after he emphatically buried Diogo Jota’s layoff into the back of the net for 1-0.
The visitors, however, responded ten minutes later with the leveller, as Mohammed Kudus expertly evaded his marker before blasting a shot into the roof of the net to restore parity at 1-1.

Both sides had chances to nick a win but it was the Reds that took full advantage of their aerial duel superiority, with Matip rising highest to loop a corner kick delivery over the line for the much needed victory.
Liverpool, Ajax are both tied on three points after two matches, same with Napoli who play their second group game at Rangers tomorrow evening.
Elsewhere, Robert Lewandowski could not help Barcelona against Bayern Munich, his former club, as the Spanish La Liga giants fell to a 2-0 defeat at the Allianz Arena in Germany.
