Ademola Lookman scored the opening goal to lead Atalanta to a 2-0 victory over VFB Stuttgart in their UEFA Champions League group stage encounter at the MPHArena in Germany on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old continued his rich vein of form, which has coincided with improved results. Atalanta are currently on an eight-match unbeaten streak in all competitions.
Lookman netted in the second half of the encounter to ensure the reigning Europa League winners picked up their second group stage win. Atalanta remain unbeaten after four matches and has yet to concede a goal.
Lookman showed growing attacking proficiency in the opponent’s penalty area, making a lung-bursting run to connect and slot in Charles De Ketelaere’s low cut-back from a few yards out.

His latest goal marks the former Everton player’s 10th goal this season.
Nicolo Zaniolo added more gloss to the victory with the second goal on 88 minutes, sealing all three points for the Bergamo-based club. Gianpiero Gasperini’s side has eight points from four matches as the group stage reaches halfway.
Elsewhere, Nigeria’s Victor Olatunji netted his second UCL group stage goal, but it was not enough for Sparta Prague, who lost 2-1 to Brest. Olatunji’s goal.
