Harry Maguire scored a second-half winner as Manchester United overcame FC Copenhagen to claim all three points in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) group stage encounter at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
The embattled defender was on hand to convert Christian Eriksen’s cross to give the Red Devils victory in a match they laboured all night.
The win is United’s first success in the UCL this season, following three group games. It is also the Mancunian club’s first win in six UCL matches.
Erik ten Hag’s side also kept a clean sheet for the first time in the season’s competition on a night the club mourned Bobby Charlton’s death. This was made possible by Andre Onana’s last-minute penalty save.

In other matches on the night, Arsenal scored either side of halftime to secure a 2-1 win over Sevilla in Spain, with Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus the scorers.
