Manchester United also advanced to the knock out phase following an improbable 2-0 win over Villarreal in Spain.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho scored for the Red Devils who recently sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer — with Michael Carrick taking the position of a stand-in coach until a replacement is announced.

Elsewhere, Robert Lewandowski made it nine consecutive UCL matches with a goal scored, thanks to an outrageous bicycle kick goal in Bayern Munich’s 2-1 win over Dynamo Kiev in Ukraine.
