Mfon Udoh, the hat trick hero in Enyimba FC’s game against Etoile Du Sahel of Tunisia in Port Harcourt two weeks ago, has likened the return leg of the game in Tunis to the FA Cup final between his club and Abia Warriors.
Recalling the dramatic win after penalties, Udoh admitted that his team never envisaged that the Tunisians would score three goals to send the game into extra time.
“This game reminded me of the FA Cup finals against Abia Warriors in Umuahia stadium. It happened just like that. I took the first penalty kick and missed. The second player also missed his. So, it’s same way it happened then,” he told TheCable over the phone from Tunis.
“After the Tunisian side got the third goal to make it 3-3 goal aggregate, I became very exhausted. But I told myself and my guys to let us go all out, that we can still win it.

“Going into this game with the three-goal advantage, none of us ever believed the hosts will be able to do that. We were also confident that we were going to score one or two, but this could have happened to any team.
“We never expected the game to have gone the way it did, but I want to say a big thank you to God for still giving us victory at the end of it all.”
