Ughamadu, ex-NNPC spokesman, replaces Garba Deen

Maikanti Baru, group managing director (GMD) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has appointed Ndu Ughamadu as spokesman of the corporation.

An official of oil firm confirmed this to TheCable on Monday.

Ughamadu replaces Garba Deen Mohammed, who is now a general manager.

The new spokesman had held the position under Jackson Gaius-Obaseki in 2002, but was relieved of his appointment by Funso Kupolokun, who replaced Obaseki in 2003.

Until his appointment, Ughamadu was the group general manager, government and labour relations, at the office of the GMD.

He has had a long career in the journalism.
