Ukraine claims Russia fired 75 missiles into its cities

The Ukrainian government has claimed that Russia fired 75 missiles into several of its cities on Monday morning.

According to NAN, Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said 41 of the missiles were shot down by air defence systems.

He described the missile attack by Russia as “the death twitches of a wounded animal”.

The official added that the attacks on Ukrainian cities had once again shown the “terrorist nature of the Russian regime”.

Podolyak said the Russian army has no idea how to fight on the battlefield and is therefore firing rockets at people.

“The masks have fallen: This is targeted mass killing of civilians and destruction of civilian infrastructure,” he said.

The rocket attacks on major Ukrainian cities — including Kyiv — were the most intense explosions following months of relative calm in the capital city and its environs since Russia invaded the country on February 24, 2022.

Kyiv’s busiest road junctions were affected by the explosion while cars and buildings were destroyed in parts of the city.

The attack comes days after Russian president Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of attacking the only bridge linking Russia and annexed Crimea.
