The United Labour Congress (ULC) has reunited with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) after five years of separation.
Ayuba Wabba, the NLC president, broke the news during a joint meeting of the two labour unions in Abuja, on Thursday.
The fallout between both groups can be traced to the NLC delegates conference of March 2015 which produced Wabba of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria as president.
Dissatisfied with the result, Joe Ajaero of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) and several other affiliates including the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) alleged delegates of fraud and eventually left the NLC to create a new faction.

The faction led by Ajaero launched the birth of ULC on December 18, 2016.
The ULC was formed with over 25 affiliates including some aggrieved members of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).
The separation has since affected protests by the labour unions against anti-masses policies of the government.

Present at the reunion was Ajaero and other executive members of the ULC.
Ajaero was announced as the new deputy president of the NLC.
