Umo Eno, governor of Akwa Ibom, has dissolved the state executive council.
In a statement on Friday, Enobong Uwah, secretary to the state government (SSG), said the cabinet dissolution is with immediate effect.
Umah said the governor directed the former commissioners and special advisers to hand over to the permanent secretaries in their respective ministries.
“All honourable commissioners and special advisers are hereby advised to hand over to their permanent secretaries or the most senior director where there is no permanent secretary,” the statement reads.

“The governor expresses his sincere appreciation to the outgoing executive council members for their dedicated service to the state.
“He wishes them well in their future endeavours and thanks them for their contributions to the development of the state.”
However, the statement did not indicate when the governor will reconstitute a fresh state executive council.

The governor, who has been in office for about 19 months, inherited most cabinet members from Udom Emmanuel’s administration.
