Uncollected passports: Kemi Nandap directs NIS offices in Lagos to work on Saturdays

An Immigration officer attend to a family shortly after they returned from South Africa

Kemi Nandap, the comptroller-general (CG) of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), says passport offices in Lagos should operate on Saturdays to allow Nigerians to collect their passports.

In a statement on Friday by Kenneth Udo, the NIS spokesperson, the CG said 107,646 passports are awaiting collection.

The NIS CG said efforts to contact owners of available passports proved futile, noting that NIS offices in Lagos are to open between 9am and 2pm on Saturdays.

“Applicants are therefore strongly advised to always provide verifiable addresses and phone numbers when filling out their online passport application forms for easy contact,” the statement reads.

“In view of the above, the CGIS has directed that all passport offices in Lagos should operate on Saturdays between 9am – 2pm to attend to applicants coming for the collection of their produced passports only.”
