The governing council of the University of Abuja has shut down the school indefinitely, following sustained protests by students of the school.
A notice compelling all students to “vacate the university with immediate effect” was circulated round the university.
“Following the order, students were chased out of their hostels and those in the library were bundled out by security. The mini-campus is at present under lock,” Isa Mustapha, a student of the institution, told TheCable.
University of Abuja has been embroiled in crisis lately. Last week, students barricaded the school’s mini-campus and marched to the university’s staff quarters at Giri in protest of the industrial action of the university’s chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

On Monday morning, the students continued their protests, but the police stepped in, dispersing the protesters by firing canisters of teargas.
The action of the police resulted in an open confrontation with the students, who had been staging their protests peacefully.
However, no injury or death was reported.
Th clash between vice chancellor of the university, Prof James Adelabu, and the university’s lecturers, which is responsible for the crisis, has stalled the commencement of student examinations originally scheduled for June 02, 2014.

Rally this is so furstrating!! Why does this happen each tym I’m about to write exam, how can a university be so stagnant and its management evil??? Chai! There is god ooh!
Seriously how can school management be playing politics with its student’s future? Most of these guys have different degrees, all we ask for is just one degree, which I’m sure is not too much for the asking, unibuja has been on one session for almost three years now. This is so frustrating. God is really watching!!
