The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has received a “Best Corporate Share of Voice” award for its social media usage.
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) recently hosted its second National Spokespersons Summit (NSS) in Abuja.
The award event, organised by the NIPR in collaboration with the federal ministry of information, celebrated UNILORIN’s use of social media to communicate with its diverse stakeholders.
Emmanuel Dandaura, the vice president of the NIPR, presented the award before an audience of public relations professionals.

Lukman Temitope Omoniyi, UNILORIN’s social media coordinator and a principal information officer within the directorate of corporate affairs, received the award on behalf of Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, the vice-chancellor.
Organisers lauded the university’s use of social media channels to cultivate goodwill and mutual understanding between the institution and its key audiences.
A UNILORIN delegation was present at the event.

It included Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi, Abubakar Imam, and Oluwasegun Alabi.
Bola Olukoju, the Kwara state commissioner for communication, and Rafiu Ajakaye, the chief press secretary to the governor, were also present.
In addition to the institutional award, Omoniyi received a personal certificate of award.
He expressed his delight at the recognition, describing it as a “notable milestone” for the university.

“Our sights are firmly set on achieving the Vision 1:10:500 of the University of Ilorin, under Professor Egbewole’s guidance, and this accolade confirms we are moving in the right direction. We won’t lose momentum,” Omoniyi said.
