Students of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) took to the streets on Monday to protest the fees deadline set for a day before exams.
Complaining that the fees were higher than those of other federal universities in the country, the students blocked roads around the university.
According to a statement on the school’s website, the 2015/2016 first semester examinations were scheduled to commence on Monday, April 11. But they were shifted to allow students complete their registration, as only students who had paid fees would be allowed to write examinations.
The protest started around 6am, with students expressing annoyance at the presence of the military at the protest.
