Update your knowledge of football rules, NPFL tells clubs as season starts Aug 31

The board of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has urged clubs to update their knowledge of intentional football rules ahead of the new season.

Davidson Owumi, the league’s chief operating officer (COO), spoke at a workshop organised by the league body for the stakeholders in Abuja on Friday.

He added that the league organisers will have zero tolerance for ignorance of rules in the forthcoming season.

“We have ensured that you get updated with the latest rules in international football, and we expect you to comply accordingly,” Owumi said.

Also, Gbenga Elegbeleye, the league’s chairman, advised clubs to make their stadiums conducive and safe to attract fans across all age ranges.

“We are investing in the series of workshops which began with clubs’ media directors, chief security officers and chairmen of clubs’ supporters because we aim to have a better season than we have had in the past,” he said.

“We look forward to seeing parents come to the stadiums with their wards and not have worries about their safety, while getting value for their time and money.

“We are not where we want to be yet, but we have moved very far from where we used to be, and this workshop is one of the strategies for the league’s growth.”

The 2024/25 NPFL season is scheduled to kick off on August 31.
