Uphold tenets of progressives, south-west APC tells elected members

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the south-west has asked all its members who emerged victorious in the elections to uphold the tenets and values of the progressives.

The APC congratulated Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos state governor-elect, and Dapo Abiodun, Ogun state governor-elect, on their victory in the just concluded governorship elections.

In a statement Bankole Oluwajana, APC national vice chairman, south-west, also congratulated Obafemi Hamzat, the state’s deputy governor-elect, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, deputy-governor-elect in Ogun, and all senators elected and their counterparts in the house of representatives.

He said although the ruling party lost the governorship election in Oyo state, it won two states in the geo-political zone; 51 seats in the house of representatives election out of 71 while it cleared 14 seats in the senatorial contest out of 24 seats.

Oluwajana noted that with the performance, the south-west “is the nerve centre of progressive politics in Nigeria”.

“We, thus, urge all those elected on the platform of the APC to uphold the tenets and values of the progressive politics the zone is known for,” he said.

He acknowledged that the elections were peaceful in all states of the region, except in the case of Temitope Olatoye, a member of the house of representatives, who was killed in Ibadan on Saturday.
