President Bola Tinubu discussed the potential expansion of American investment in Nigeria with Massad Boulos, the US state department representative and Donald Trump’s senior adviser for Africa, the Nigerian presidency has disclosed.
Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to Tinubu on information and strategy, said the meeting was held on Thursday in Paris, the French capital.
Tinubu departed Abuja on April 2 for a two-week “working visit” in France.
Onanuga said the meeting between the president and the US government official focused on developing a strategic economic and security partnership between Nigeria, Africa, and the United States.

“The US State Department rep conveyed President Trump’s strong interest in deepening direct engagement with Nigeria as a cornerstone of US relations with Africa,” Onanuga said in a statement issued Sunday.
“The US wanted to work closely with President Tinubu to expand American investment in Nigeria and Africa, support energy and infrastructure development, and align trade and job creation efforts.”
Both sides also discussed actionable support and shared perspectives on regional peace, particularly in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and across the Sahel, Onanuga added.

The presidential spokesperson said Trump’s adviser recognised Nigeria’s regional and continental leadership and expressed support for Tinubu’s interventions to stabilise key African regions.
In return, Tinubu reiterated Nigeria’s readiness to build productive alliances with the US centred on transparency, opportunity, mutual respect, and outcomes that strengthen Africa’s place in the global economy.
