Uzodimma: Imo would have been overrun by bandits if not for Buhari’s intervention

Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo, says the “prompt and fatherly” intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari helped to restore peace and order in the state.

He said this on Tuesday when Buhari visited the state to inaugurate road projects carried out by the Imo government.

Uzodimma said the state would have been overrun by bandits and hoodlums if not for the intervention of the president through the security agencies.

“Your prompt intervention helped to restore peace and order in our state,” the Imo governor said.

“But for your timely, prompt and fatherly intervention through the security agencies, Imo state would have been overrun by bandits and hoodlums. For this, I also say thank you Mr President.

“My goal is to leave Imo state far better than I met it. We have refused to be distracted by insecurity, social media blackmail, and propaganda.”

Uzodimma added that the second phase of the Owerri-Okigwe road, and two federal road projects, which include the Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia road and Orlu-Akokwa road, would be completed before the end of January 2023.

In his remarks, Buhari commended the governor for carrying out infrastructural projects in the state.

“Uzodimma has made the provisions of good roads his priority in Imo state with little resources,” he said.

“In my last visit, I urged the people of Imo to support governor Uzodimma and I’m happy you listened to my advice.”
