Hope Uzodinma, governor of Imo, has directed the Imo Marketing Board (IMB) to begin procurement, sale and distribution of foodstuff at subsidised prices to residents.
In a statement on Wednesday, the governor said the directive is in line with his welfare packages to the people of the state to cushion the effects of the petrol subsidy removal and improve food security.
Uzodinma directed ministries, departments and agencies (MDAS) to obtain receipts of their items from the office of the head of service at the state secretariat.
The items include bags of rice, vegetable oil and other stocks.
