Hope Uzodinma, governor of Imo, has called on members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to pray for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

NAN reports that the governor made the appeal on Tuesday, at the CAN secretariat in Owerri, during the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of rice to the five south-east states.

Uzodinma said the truckloads of rice were Christmas and palliative gifts from the president to the people of Imo.

He thanked God for making it possible for the people to overcome the challenges of 2023.

“Though some of those policies came with initial pains, like the high cost of items in the market, the policies are meant to address these pains,” NAN quoted Uzodinma as saying.

“Towards the end of last year, the federal and state governments distributed palliative materials in Imo state, doing their best to send the materials to the nooks and crannies of the state.

“80 percent of people living in the South East are Christians, and so Christmas celebration is taken as a very serious festival.”

The governor reiterated the president’s commitment to ensuring the wellbeing of the people, while emphasising the importance of providing relief and other support to citizens, particularly during the festive season.

He promised that the state government will support CAN with the logistics to convey the truckloads of rice to all the south-eastern states of Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo.

On his part, Eches Eches, the CAN chairman in Imo, commended President Tinubu for looking out for the people during the yuletide.

Eches described Uzodinma as “a caring lover of God and mankind, who promotes the interests of Igbo people on the national stage”.
