Hope Uzodinma, governor of Imo state, has bagged the Social Enterprise and Responsibility Awards (SERAS) sustainability man of the year award.
The SERAS is said to be Africa’s foremost recognition for corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability.
The organisers recognised Uzodinma’s One Kindred, One Business Initiative (OKOBI) for job creation and economic empowerment.
The 2024 edition of the award is themed: ‘Beyond Sustainability: Enabling Business Transformation Through Full Disclosure’.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Kenneth Amaeshi, chief economic adviser to the Imo state government, said the award is a “testament to the governor’s tireless efforts in promoting sustainable development and environmental stewardship in Imo State”.
“In another impressive feat, the Imo State government’s OKOBI initiative took home the Best in Innovation Award, beating out prominent brands like OPay, Naspers, Heirs Insurance Group, and Parthian Partners. OKOBI, which stands for One Kindred, One Business Initiative, is a grassroots business empowerment program aimed at promoting economic growth and development in Imo State,” Amaeshi said.
“These awards demonstrate the Uzodimma administration’s commitment to sustainable development, innovation, and good governance. As the governor continues to drive transformation in Imo State, these recognitions serve as a motivation to further accelerate progress and improve the lives of citizens.”
