Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo state, has renamed the Imo international conference center (IICC) after Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the late president-general of Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide.
Uzodimma made this known on Friday during Iwuanyanwu’s burial service at St. Matthew’s Anglican Cathedral Amawo in Atta Ikeduru LGA of the state.
The governor said the building will be known as ‘Iwuanyanwu International Conference Center’ to immortalise him.
He described the late Iwuanyanwu as a patriotic and compassionate leader.

He added that Iwuanyanwu’s involvement in politics, sports and business enabled him to empower millions of people both at home and in diaspora.
“Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was a father and a beacon of hope to Ndigbo and Nigerians in general,” Uzodimma said.
“He was a great nationalist who contributed immensely to the growth of the country by way of empowering the youths, raising young politicians and shooting young footballers to stardom through his Iwuanyanwu Nationale. Indeed, Nigeria and Imo people will greatly miss him.
