Eze Anaba, editor of Vanguard newspaper, has been elected president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).
Anaba scored 250 votes to defeat Bola Adebiyi who came second with 81 votes.
The poll took place on Friday in Owerri, the Imo capital, during the biennial convention of the NGE.
Iyobosa Uwugiaren was elected general secretary; Sheddy Ozoene, vice-president east; Charles Kalu, publicity secretary and Steve Osuji as treasurer.

Speaking after his election, Anaba thanked members of the guild for electing him as president.
He pledged to uphold the constitution of the guild and lead the campaign against policies that undermine media freedom.
“I will do everything to achieve our guild’s vision and mission for the socio-economic and political development of our guild and country, Nigeria,” NAN quoted Anaba as saying.
