COVID-19: Seplat donates items to Edo

Seplat Petroleum Development Company on Wednesday donated some items for the management of COVID-19 to Edo state government.

Some of the items include: motorised sprayers, Knapsack sprayers, eye goggles, hands sanitisers, nose masks, temperature guns, chemical gloves and personal protective equipment.

Emmanuel Otokhine, base manager of Seplat, said the items were to provide support to the Edo government to contain the spread of the disease in the state.

According to him, the gesture was to help the state government to up its ability to manage the global COVID-19 pandemic.

“We understand that the state government has put in place many measures in the fight against Coronavirus. We felt that we should give them this assistance. We understand that at the moment, personal protection equipment are in short supply, even if you placed order you won’t get,” he said.

“We are presenting some of these so that the personnel who are handling those confirmed cases and those who are going to test positive will require those equipment.”

In his remarks, Philip Shaibu, depuy governor of the state, who is also chairman, Coronavirus Response Committee, thanked them for their contribution to support the state’s effort in the fight against the pandemic.

Shaibu called on other well meaning individuals to emulate the step taken by Seplat, saying government alone could not do it, but needs the support of individuals.
