Victor Moses’ penalty wins it for Stoke

Victor Moses’ stoppage-time penalty spoiled Tim Sherwood’s debut as Aston Villa manager as his side were condemned to a 2-1 loss at Villa Park in the Barclays Premier League.

Sherwood saw his side get off to a flying start when on loan winger Scott Sinclair headed home Fabian Delph’s cross after 20 minutes.

But the visitors equalised on the stroke of half-time when Mame Biram Diouf beat Brad Guzan from six yards.

A draw could have been a fair result but there was heart-break at the death for Villa and their fans.

The draw meant the Blues missed the chance to go 10 points clear and handed Manchester City fresh hope in the title race while Burnley climbed up a place to third bottom.

Dame N’Doye scored an 89th-minute winner as Hull City grabbed a dramatic 2-1 win over 10-man Queens Park Rangers at the KC Stadium.

Nikica Jelavic opened the scoring before the visitors shot themselves in the foot midway through the first half when Joey Barton was sent off for a punch on Tom Huddlestone.

Charlie Austin equalised in the 39th minute, but his side couldn’t hold on to a point as N’doye celebrated his 30th birthday with a late strike.

Premier League strugglers Sunderland were unable to break down Tony Pulis’ stubborn West Brom side, as the visitors held on to earn a 0-0 draw.

Adam Johnson saw a goal wrongly given for offside.

The former Manchester City winger had the ball in the net in the final minute of the first half, only for his effort to be chalked off by the officials – a decision that TV replays proved was incorrect.
