A police officer identified as Luka Bashayi has been seen in a viral video demanding money from a motorist in Lagos.
In the short video shared on X, Bashayi was seen in the front seat of a Sienna vehicle, urging the driver to promptly act on his demand.
The police officer requested N10,000 from the driver but the latter said he did not have such an amount.
In response, Bashayi said he would “do his work” as a police officer if the driver failed to do his bidding.

The police officer then proceeded to call out his account number.

Reacting to the incident, Muyiwa Adejobi, force spokesperson, said the action of the officer is unacceptable and shameful.
“This is not allowed, so shameful. It’s condemned. We need more info about this. We will fish him out,” Adejobi wrote.
Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesperson, identified the officer as an assistant superintendent serving in Ogudu.

Hundeyin said the Lagos police command has commenced action on the incident.
“We will not gloss over this. He is ASP Luka Bashayi, serving at Ogudu Area Command. Meanwhile, @Lagos_PoliceCRU has commenced actions on this,” he wrote.
