‘This device helps cancer patients live longer’

A new device ‘Optune’ which helps people with brain cancer to live longer has been unveiled.

The device creates an electrical field that stops cancer cells from reproducing.

Patients have to keep their heads shaved to wear the cap for 18 hours a day.

Roger Supp, a Neuro-oncologist, said the immediate survival of patients has increased from sixteen to twenty-one months.

“More importantly so, we have two years survivors, three years survivors, four and five years survival increase,” he said.

Although the device is not a treatment, it can help patients live longer.
