The Nigerian air force has released the footage of what it says is a recent raid on the base of militants in the Arepo area of Ogun state.
The video showed two aircraft hovering over a militant camp, which had at least 15 armed men. About five boats were seen beside some makeshift tents in the camp.
In a manner as though they were preparing for battle, one of the militants mounted a gunboat, while others joined him later.
The air force jets initially seen were apparently on a surveillance mission, as three fighter jets were later deployed to the location.

The footage indicated that the jets released missiles into the creeks, but images of the attack strikes themselves were not shown.
Jerry cans and boats used for siphoning crude oil were seen in the video, dated August 1.
Prior to the operation, which was code-named ‘Operation Awatse’, the militants wreaked havoc on different coastal communities in Lagos and Ogun states.

They killed, robbed, raped, and kidnapped residents of the communities with little or no resistance from security agencies.
The military crackdown is also taking place in Ikorodu, Lagos.

it is a job well done. it needs to be total and permanent without compromised.
Why can’t the federal government take a deep rooted analysis of the cause of these crime, agitations, and all these unrest in this country. Why should the state of Nigeria be in perpetual war with her own citizens who she is supposed to protect. The Nigerian army is there to fight foreign aggressors but it seems the Nigerian state is at war with her citizens
Are you saying that we should leave the vandals and criminals to continue unleashing terror on innocent Nigerians? Think right please.
Drihenacho, You seem to say it was wrong for the military to engage the militants after the police were outgunned. Or you would rather wish they have been left to pillage unarmed people trying to live peacefully.
If the military had not acted now, the people would have sought and taken up arms to defend themselves eventually which, would have created permanent militias in that area also as no group has a monopoly of violence.
