VIDEO: ‘Thugs’ ask Lagos residents to shun planned protest

'Thugs' threaten Lagos residents in market

A group of young men held a rally at the Lagos Island market to dissuade residents from participating in the August 1-10 protest.

In a viral video, some persons could be seen walking round the market in a procession.

An unidentified man said the city and some businesses are yet to recover from the arson that ensued during the #EndSARS protest of October 2020.

Others were seen holding aloft placards, while warning traders and customers to avoid the protest.

One young man was seen speaking through a public address system mounted on a moving bus.

“You people are shouting that you want to protest in Lagos on Thursday. Have you forgotten the destruction that happened in Lagos during #EndSARS protests?” he asked in Yoruba.

“What will happen when they burn down your shops? Anybody that is not afraid should come out on Thursday for protest.

“Let’s see you on Thursday. If you dare come out, you will see what will happen to you.
