Violence forces Akeredolu to impose curfew on Ondo community

Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo state, has proscribed human and vehicular movement in Oba Akoko, Akoko south west local government area of the state.

Gbenga Ale, chief of staff to the governor, announced this in a statement while attributing the development to disruption of election in Oba Akoko.

Suspected hoodlums had snatched ballot boxes and destroyed many vehicles in the community.

In his reaction, Akeredolu directed that commercial activities be shut down with immediate effect, with everyone remaining indoors until further notice.

Law enforcement agencies have been ordered to arrest anyone seen on the streets and other unauthorised areas, with warning that any attempt to test the will of security agencies will be decisively dealt with.

The suspected ring leader of the hoodlums has been arrested.
