The Voice of Women (VOW) foundation says it will be hosting its 8th annual conference on the role of grassroots women in shaping inclusive policies for a sustainable Nigeria.

In a statement on Tuesday, Maria Oladokun, communications officer of Women Radio, said the conference will provide networking opportunities for women from various sectors, and will hold on October 3 at the NAF conference centre in Abuja.

Oladokun said the conference is organised in collaboration with Women Radio 91.7FM.

The theme of the conference is: ‘Achieving Women’s Inclusion for a Sustainable Nigeria’.

She said the theme was inspired by insights garnered from in-person engagements with grassroots women across the six geopolitical zones.

“The conference will host grassroots and urban women in constructive conversations on the crucial roles of grassroots women in achieving inclusive policies that drive sustainable development for women in Nigeria,” she said.

Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, chairperson of the VOW2024 planning committee, said this year’s theme will reveal the gap between policy and action.

Akinyode-Afolabi added that the conference aims to look beyond the present, while envisioning a future of progress.

“VOW2024 will prioritise results-driven approaches to foster a future of progress by tapping into innovative ideas and policy interventions,” she said.

“VOW conference has set the standard for promoting and protecting women’s rights in Nigeria, becoming a marketplace for ideas and policy innovation, with a unique influence on the policy landscape.”

The conference will host keynote addresses, panel discussions, fireside chats and networking opportunities.
