Charles Ugomuoh, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) in Imo state, has asked the party’s delegates to vote for a candidate with “good character and competence” ahead of the primary election.
The primary election of the party in the state is billed to hold on April 13, while the governorship poll will hold on November 11.
Speaking with journalists on Wednesday in Owerri, the Imo capital, Ugomuoh called on the delegates to reject money bags as such breed godfatherism in politics.
Ugomuoh added that as a retired assistant inspector-general of police (AIG), he has the experience to tackle the security challenges troubling the state.

He said rather than voting for a money-bag as the candidate of the party, the delegates should consider competence, capacity, and character.
“As a security expert, we will tackle insecurity challenges with the introduction of new technologies and intelligence-based security,” NAN quoted Ugomuoh as saying.
“We are coming up with a template to provide good governance, health, education, road infrastructures and network, and power supply, agriculture, among others.

“It will be a new era which the people must not miss.”
He urged delegates to elect him as the party’s flag bearer due to his competence and character.
