Sharon Ohaka and Princess Uzogo, candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for Isiala-Mbano LGA and Ikeduru LGA respectively, have urged the Imo State Electoral Commission (ISIEC) to cancel Saturday’s LGA election.

Speaking at a press briefing in Owerri on Monday, the candidates said elections did not hold in some LGAs.

They described the declaration of all APC candidates in the 27 LGAs and 305 wards as winners of the election by Charles Ejiogu, the ISIEC chairman, as a sham.

They also called on ISIEC to fix a new date for a fresh election.

The duo said there were no ISIEC officials nor sensitive materials at polling units in the two LGAs.

“We are using this medium to dissociate ourselves from any results or announcement in Isiala-Mbano and Ikeduru as no election held at both LGAs,” they said.

“Electorates came out early to exercise their franchise but there was no ISIEC officials nor sensitive materials as to assure them of the exercise.

“After waiting in vain for several hours for the officials, many left their polling units in anger. Surprisingly, on Sunday, the ISIEC Chairman, Charles Ejiogu, announced that all APC candidates have won in the 27 LGAs.

“What we are asking for is for the umpire to fix a new date for a fresh election because voters were disenfranchised at various LGAs where ISIEC officials never showed up.”
